Kanye West Working on Movie Companion to New Album?

Kanye West may be working on a "movie companion" to coincide with his forthcoming fifth album, which is set for release Nov. 16. The rapper tweeted that he had been "shooting 16 hour days" while in Prague last week, and photos from the film set arrived online today (Sept. 1), although details and a director cannot be confirmed. West, who previously worked with Spike Jonze for the short film "We Were Once a Fairytale," is also prepping the release of a 5-song joint album with Jay-Z. (MTV)

Jay-Z admits that he likely would have mugged Coldplay's Chris Martin if he had seen the singer walking on the street before his career took off, according to the Boston Herald. In an interview with Mirror UK, the rapper said that he "was a different person then… I would have been like, 'Yo! Who are you? Give me your money.'" Jay-Z and Martin are now close friends, with the Coldplay frontman's two children now referring to the rapper as "Uncle Jay." (Boston Herald)

Tom Waits will receive his close-up in "Wait/Corbijn -- Photographs 1977-2010," a photo book courtesy of acclaimed photographer/director Anton Corbijn, according to Twenty Four Bits. To coincide with next month's release of new album "The DeAndre Way," Soulja Boy Tell'em will release "Teenage Millionaire," a book that covers his quick rise to success in the music industry. In an appearance on MTV's "RapFix Live," the rapper said, "All the chapters break down my beliefs and what steps and methods I took to get in this position." Soulja Boy also said last month that "Speakers Going Hammer" would be his next single following "Pretty Boy Swag." (MTV)

Contrary to online rumors, Beyoncé is keeping her father, Matthew Knowles, as her manager. A rep says that the singer's dad, who also heads the Music World Entertainment label, will "continue to have a close personal and business relationship" with Beyonce. Former 'Idol' Contestant Charged with Battery

Asia'h Epperson, a contestant on season 7 of 'American Idol,' is expected to be charged with misdemeanor battery tomorrow (Sept. 2), according to the Los Angeles City Attorney. TMZ reports that the singer was arrested on Aug. 12 following an altercation with another girl at Colony nightclub. (TMZ)
